Topic: Free Indeed? [Open Heavens for Teens 12 May 2019]
Memorise: “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” – John 8:36
Read: John 8:31-36
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33 They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Bible In One Year: 2 Kings 4-5, John 4:1-30
MESSAGE:
To properly enjoy the freedom that Christ makes available to you, you need to control what goes into your mind. As long as you keep reading the wrong books, watching the wrong films/television shows and listening to the wrong music, you will continue to fall into error and satanic bondage. The freedom that Christ promises is only made available for you in Him. In other words, if you live outside of Christ, then you are not free, rather, you are under lock and key by Satan. This is why you must be very selective of what goes into you. If you are careless of what you consume, the devil will use that opportunity to bind you little by little until your character becomes totally corrupted.
Rather than feed on dirty or irrelevant things, feed on the Word of God. The more of the Word of God that you feed on, the more freedom you have access to. In place of those bad books, read the Bible and Christian literature. In place of those immoral T.V shows, watch sermons and Christian films, in place of worldly songs, listen to gospel music and inspirational talks. Be so filled with the things of God that the devil will be unable to find any of his things in you.
Prayer Point: Lord Jesus, please help me consume only pure and holy things. Give me the grace to say no to spiritual junk.

Hymn 10:
- What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer! - Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a Friend so faithful?
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer! - Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield You;
You wilt find a solace there.
