SUMMARY OF LESSONS 33-37
LESSON THIRTY THREE (33)
TOPIC: BENEFITS OF A GRATEFUL HEART 5: SWIFT ANSWERS TO PRAYER

BIBLE TEXT: 1 Samuel 1 – 2:1-10

MEMORY VERSE: 1 John 5:14 “And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us”.

LESSON AIM: The children will discover that God hears and answers prayers.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to depend on Jesus for answered prayers.

INTRODUCTION
Children! Let us pray (Say a short prayer). What is the longest time you have waited for something you prayed for? What kept you from giving up when it is a long wait? Do you still look forward to receiving what you ask for? Is there something you have prayed for but have given up because you have received no answer from God in a long time? We are going to see an example of God hearing and answering prayer in our bible lesson for today.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT

  1. Elkanah took his two wives and family to Shiloh every year to sacrifice and worship God.
  2. His wife Peninnah had children and provoked the other wife Hannah because she did not have children because God closed her womb
  3. Elkanah loved Hannah and gave her a double portion of the sacrifice but she could not eat it because she was sad about the state of her childlessness.
  4. In this particular year, after the meal, Hannah went up to the Tabernacle to pray and wept in silence but bitterly and only her lips moved.
  5. Prophet Eli thought that Hannah was drunk and rebuked her but she answered with respect and honesty that she was not but pouring out her heart to the Lord.
  6. The Prophet told her to go in peace and that the God of Israel will grant her petition.
  7. Hannah made a vow that the Lord would give her son, she would give the boy back to the Lord to serve Him all the days of his life.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: The Prophet knew that God would answer Hannah because God loved her. God loves you too and wants to answer your prayers. There is something that will make God not hear your prayers and that is sin. Sin separates us from God. In order not to be separated from Him, God sent Jesus, His only Son into the world to take the punishment you deserve.

CLIMAX: God heard and answered Hannah’s prayers because she conceived and bore a son whom she named Samuel because she asked him from the Lord.

CONCLUSION: Hannah praised the Lord for answered prayers, and when Samuel was of age, she dropped him with Prophet Eli in the Tabernacle to serve the Lord all the days of his life.

CHALLENGE: As a child who believes in Jesus as Lord and Saviour, you have the privilege to pray to God the Father and believe that he hears and answers prayers. His answer may be yes, no, or wait. If we are praying according to God’s Word we can trust that He will hear and answer according to His perfect plan for our lives.

CARRY-OVER ACTIVITY: This week, pray earnestly for God to give you the boldness to tell others about Him.

INVITATION: If you put your trust in the Lord, He will save you from your sins (John 5:24).

LESSON THIRTY FOUR (34)
TOPIC: BENEFITS OF A GRATEFUL HEART 6: DIVINE PROTECTION

BIBLE TEXT: Exodus 1-2

MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 91:2 “I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him will I trust.”

LESSON AIM: The children will know that God promises to protect them at all times.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: Put your trust in Jesus for protection.

INTRODUCTION: Children! Name things that protect you. For example, we know that shoes protect our feet, seat belts, brakes, and airbags protect us in the car, door locks protect us at home, and parents, teachers, policemen, etc are people that protect us. God is the greatest protector because He protects us even from things we do not see. Do you know that there is a chapter in the bible that talks about God’s divine protection? It is Psalm 91 and it was written by Moses. Moses knew that God always protected him even from the time when he was a baby.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT

  1. The Israelites had been enslaved in Egypt and had grown into a great nation and Pharaoh started to worry that they would revolt against him.
  2. When Pharaoh decided to get rid of the Israelites, he told the midwives who help to deliver the children of the Israelites to kill every male child born.
  3. These midwives knew it was wrong to kill the babies and let them live, they lied to Pharaoh, and he now passed a law that the boys should be thrown into the Nile river.
  4. A Levite man and his wife had a baby boy and hid him for three months because they did not want to throw him into the river.
  5. When they could not hide him anymore, the mother made a basket that could float and put the baby inside and put him at the edge of the water.
  6. The baby sister, Miriam stayed and watched to see what would happen.
  7. Pharaoh’s daughter came down to the river to take a bath and when she saw the basket, she had her servants bring it and she found the baby and took him home.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: God protected the baby through Pharaoh’s daughter because he loved Moses. God protects each of us because He loves us so He sent His Son Jesus to earth to die for our sins. Jesus willingly gave up His life to pay the price for our sins. The ultimate way that God protects us is through Jesus dying on the cross in our place. Jesus protects us from eternal separation from God by paying the price for our sins (John 3:16).

CLIMAX: Pharaoh’s daughter raised the baby as her son and called him Moses and also hired the boy’s mother to take care of him.

CONCLUSION: God protected Moses because he had big plans for him.

CHALLENGE: Once you put your trust in Jesus as your Savior. He will give you divine protection. God is always in control no matter what threatens our security and safety, and God is always there to protect us because nothing defeats Him. We can take comfort that God promises to always protect us (Psalm 91).

CARRY-OVER ACTIVITY: Memorize Psalm 91 and recite it whenever you are scared.

INVITATION: God will give you divine protection if you receive Jesus into your life as Lord and Saviour (John 1:12).

LESSON THIRTY FIVE (35)
TOPIC: BENEFITS OF A GRATEFUL HEART:
MULTIPLICATION (DIVINE PROVISION)

BIBLE TEXT: 1 Kings 17:7-16

MEMORY VERSE: Luke 6:38 “Give, and it shall be given unto you good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and shall men give unto your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured back to you again”

LESSON AIM: The children will discover that God is always incontrol and will take care of their needs.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: Always rely on Jesus to take care of your needs

INTRODUCTION: Children! What do you do when you get hungry or thirsty? (let the children contribute). We can ask our parents or those who take care of us to help provide when we need something. Well, Elijah had nothing but God instructed him on what to do. Elijah had to trust the strange directives God gave him and followed them.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT

  1. Prophet Elijah went to Zaraphet as the Lord commanded.
2 When he got to the town’s gate, he met a widow gathering sticks as God had promised.
    A GRATEFUL HEART
  2. He went to the widow and asked for water to drink and as she was about to get the water, he also asked for a piece of bread to eat.
  3. The widow told Elijah that she had no bread but a handful of flour and a little oil in a jar and she just making preparation to bake the last meal with it so that she and her son can eat and die.
  4. Elijah told her not to be afraid but to go home and make him a loaf of bread first before making it for herself and her son.
  5. Elijah said the Lord had said that the flour and oil would not run out until the famine was over.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: God provided for Prophet Elijah because He loved him. God loves you and wants to provide for you. God made the greatest provision for you and me to have our sins forgiven. God sent His only begotten Son Jesus to die a shameful death on the cross shedding His lifeblood for our sins to be forgiven. Jesus died on the cross, He was buried and came alive on the third day. When you receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour, you get the provision of salvation (John 3:16).

CLIMAX: She went away and did as the Prophet said, there was food for them every day.

CONCLUSION: The flour was not used up and the little oil in the jug did not run dry as was spoken by the Prophet until the day the Lord sent rain.

CHALLENGE: Elijah lived during a time when it was dangerous to be faithful to God. However, he boldly followed the Lord wherever the Lord led him. Elijah fully trusted the Lord and God provided for all of Elijah’s needs. God also provided food for the widow and her son because she was willing to trust that God was speaking through Elijah. God will provide for our needs as well. Even when it seems like it might be impossible, God will find a way to provide for your needs if you put your trust in God.

CARRY-OVER ACTIVITY: You can put your trust in Jesus this week to fully provide for you.

INVITATION: The only way you can receive the great provision of salvation is to believe in the Lord Jesus and be saved (Acts 16:31).

LESSON THIRTY SIX (36)*
TOPIC: BENEFITS OF A GRATEFUL HEART:
VICTORY OVER CHALLENGES OF LIFE

BIBLE TEXT: Isaiah 41:12-14.

MEMORY VERSE: Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

LESSON AIM: The children will learn to trust God to help them overcome the challenges of life.

CHILD²-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you to trust Jesus to have victory.

INTRODUCTION: The city of Jerusalem did look like a place where they worshiped the the only true God. Ahaz the king of Judah was wicked and disobeyed God’s laws and led the people to worship false gods. King Ahaz shut the temple where God’s people were supposed to worship the only true and holy God. Ahaz allowed altars to be built on every street corner in Jerusalem where people would bow down and worship false gods. Although Ahaz was a bad king, his son Hezekiah did not follow in his footsteps.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT

  1. Hezekiah became the King of Judah after the death of his father, King Ahaz.
  2. Hezekiah was a good king and made the people stop worshiping false gods, and God was happy with him and helped him to defeat his enemies
  3. The Assyrian army attacked Judah and told them that they will conquer them because they conquered other nations who believed in their gods who did not help them so their God will not help them too.
  4. Prophet Isaiah came and told King Hezekiah that God is going to show the Assyrians what He can do.
  5. That night, God sent an angel to the Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 of their soldiers while they were sleeping.
  6. The next morning, the rest of the Assyrians woke up and saw all the bodies of the dead soldiers and were afraid of God that they left Judah and went back to their own country.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: God is a miracle worker and He shows us His miracles every day because He loves. If we have sins in our lives, God cannot show us what He can do, so He sent His only Son Jesus to take the punishment for our sins. Jesus came to earth and died a shameful death on the cross, He was buried and came alive again on the third day. If you put your trust in Jesus as Lord and Saviour, He will forgive and show you what He can do for you.

CLIMAX: God saved Judah and King Hezekiah from the Assyrian army.

CONCLUSION: The king of Assyria retreated to Nineveh but he ended up being murdered by his own sons.

CHALLENGE: If you already have Jesus in your life as Lord and Saviour, He will want to show you what He can do for you. Jesus will fight for you when you are being bullied or maltreated.

CARRY-OVER ACTIVITY: This week, write down
anything you know that Jesus has fought for you then next week, we will give thanks to God for your testimony.

INVITATION: Believe in the Lord Jesus and be saved so that He will show you what He can do (Acts 16:31).

LESSON THIRTY SEVEN (37)
TOPIC: BENEFITS OF A GRATEFUL HEART
ENJOY THE PRESENCE OF GOD

BIBLE TEXT: Luke 1:43-55

MEMORY VERSE: PSALM 95:2 “Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyfully noise unto Him with Psalms.”

LESSON AIM: The children will learn how to praise God and be in His presence.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God wants you always be in His presence through Jesus.

INTRODUCTION: Hello children of God! Are you excited to be in church today? Each time I think of being in the presence of God, I am so excited! Tell me how you show your excitement when you are feeling joyful about something. Let us say you got great news about your school going on an excursion in a foreign country. Maybe you will do a happy dance and show your joy through movement or perhaps break into a song and do the moonwalk or maybe blow a trumpet sound with your hands.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT

  1. After Mary received the good news from Angel Gabriel that she was going to be the mother of baby Jesus.
  2. Mary went to visit her much older cousin Elizabeth in the hill country of Judah when the Angel told her that her cousin was six months pregnant.
  3. Elizabeth felt the baby in her womb jump for joy and she was filled with the Holy Spirit.
  4. Elizabeth understood that something special was happening in her body and said a special blessing to Mary.

GOSPEL CONNECTION: The child within Elizabeth’s womb knew who was in his presence even though he was not yet born because he felt God’s love. You and I need to recognize the presence of the Lord because He surrounds us with His love. God’s gift of His Son Jesus is something we will all need to delight in. Because of the saving work of Jesus on the cross, you can have the presence of the Lord when acknowledging Him as Lord and Saviour (John 10:10).

CLIMAX: Mary sang a special song to magnify and glorify God.

CONCLUSION: Mary spent three months with Elizabeth and went back home.

CHALLENGE: If you have Jesus in you as Lord and Saviour you will be filled with the presence of God. Mary, Elizabeth, and the baby in Elizabeth’s womb all had the presence of God so they all had joyful reactions to the good news of the coming of baby Jesus. The baby in the womb leaped, Elizabeth shouted, and Mary sang. They all gave praise and glorified God for fulfilling the promise of a Saviour to his people Israel.
There are lots of ways to praise God, and there are many ways we can praise Him. We can praise God through singing. dancing, speaking, or whatever we are doing should be for the Lord. we can do it with grateful hearts, joy, and delight in what God has done and continues to do.

CARRY-OVER ACTIVITY: God wants you to praise and worship Him, and give Him thanks for all His gifts and blessings.

INVITATION: Let the Lord Jesus come into your heart as Lord and Saviour (John 5:24).
