THE BAPTISM OF THE SPIRIT
Acts 1:4, Acts 2:1 & 4, Luke 3:16. And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father… *And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. *And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. *John answered…I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, … he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
Though Jesus had appeared to His disciples and they were now convinced He was alive, there was something they still needed to walk in the fullness of Christ and be His effective witnesses. Jesus told them that they had to wait for the promise of the Father and they would be endued with power by the coming of the Spirit, (Acts 1:4-8). Jesus came to baptize us with the Holy Ghost and fire. He came to grant us the ability to experience the explosive power (dunamis) and operations of the Holy Spirit in our lives. When the disciples became baptized by the Spirit, they began to do things they couldn’t do before, because they had been endued with power. If you have experienced the baptism of the Spirit, you too have been endued with God’s power.
God does not want us to be ignorant about the Holy Spirit and His gifts and operations in our lives, (1Cor.12:1). The moment you believe in Christ, you are ready and qualified to receive the baptism of the Spirit. That is why Apostle Paul asked the believers at Ephesus if they had received the Holy Ghost since they believed, (Acts 19:2). God is more willing to give us His Spirit than we are willing to ask for His Spirit, (Luke 11:13). The Holy Spirit has already been poured out in Acts 2 and Acts 10. All we need to do is to receive Him by faith! As Peter was speaking God’s Word in the household of Cornelius, they believed and the Holy Ghost came upon them, (Acts 10:44). Right now as you believe God, the Holy Ghost is coming upon you! Receive the Holy Ghost! Be filled with the Holy Ghost! Jesus is baptizing you and filling you with His Spirit even now! Receive fresh fire and zeal for the things of God.
Prayer Focus:
Thank God for pouring out His Spirit upon you and receive the baptism or fresh fire of the Spirit right now. Yield yourself to the Spirit.
