THE STEADFASTNESS OF THE EARLY BELIEVERS
Acts 2:42, 46, Acts 5:41-42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. *And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, *And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

Today we shall study about the major attitudes that characterized the lives of the early believers immediately after the outpouring of the Spirit. One major feature of their lives was that they were steadfast in the Word of God. They did not take the messages of the gospel that they heard as just mere words. They took the teachings of the apostles very seriously and continued in them. They continued studying and meditating on them until it was deeply planted in their hearts and manifesting in their lives. The way you receive the Word of God determines the effect it will have in your life. Apostle Paul said the Thessalonian believers received their message as the Word of God to them and it effectually worked in them that believed, (1Thes.2:13).
The early believers were also committed to their fellowship with each other. God wants us to admonish or exhort one another daily, (Heb.3:13). There need to be a strong love and fellowship between us as believers; not just during church services, but even from house to house like we see in our texts above. The love of Christ should fuel and show in our fellowship.
The early believers shared what they had with each other and they prayed together. Jesus said our love for one another is what will show to men that we are His disciples, (John 13:35). There was no social status, gender, tribal or any other limitation to their fellowship. It was a deep spiritual fellowship. They were one in Christ indeed. They ate together and also took the communion together from house to house. By the Spirit of God, God is restoring us to even greater dimensions of fellowship amongst ourselves.
Prayer Focus:
Pray for the church and all believers for a strengthening of our faith, passion for God’s word and deeper fellowship amongst ourselves.
