 “OIL FOR LIGHT”

READ: Matthew 4:1-11

“And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, Saying, LET US ALONE; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.” – Mark 1:23-24

You will notice how the demons shouted out, “Let us alone!” It is important that you do not leave demons alone! Do not let the devil be comfortable around you. Bind him! Pour fire on him! Fasten him with chains! Curse his presence! Rebuke him! Reject him! Block him! Make declarations against him. Prophesy against him!

What you may not know is that devils were here before we arrived. The same demons that challenged Jesus Christ two thousand years ago are still alive and inhabiting more and more people. These demons are the ones resisting all that you do. Every kind of stress and resistance you feel is demonic in its origins.

Jesus was in the wilderness for forty days and nights. What did He pray about for forty days and nights? It is amazing that we never hear of any prayer topic that Jesus prayed in the wilderness. We just read of Him dealing with the devil. Jesus bound the devil in the wilderness for forty days and nights. The significant things that Jesus did in the wilderness were rebuking the devil and putting him in his place.

An important part of your prayer involves talking to the devil. Jesus spoke to the devil directly in the wilderness. Notice in the scriptures how Jesus spoke directly to Satan and demons: Matthew 4:4,7,10; Matthew 16:23.

Jesus never left the devil alone. From the day that He began His ministry to the very end, He was dealing with the devil. At the very beginning He dealt with him in the wilderness. On the cross, Jesus dealt the final blow to Satan’s power over mankind.
