Acts 1:3-5 (GNB) For forty days after his death he appeared to them many times in ways that proved beyond doubt that he was alive. They saw him, and he talked with them about the Kingdom of God. And when they came together, he gave them this order: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift I told you about, the gift my Father promised. John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.
After Jesus rose from the dead, He lovingly went back to His disciples and continued to reassure them of the same things He had previously spoken to them about before He died. Jesus did not give up on His disciples and He will not give up on you. Please don’t give up on yourself. There may be things you have been learning or hearing about for a long time, but you still haven’t understood or started experiencing in your life. Don’t give up. Do not stop listening or giving attention to them. Keep hearing and learning more about them. They will soon sink in and come alive in your heart.
After reminding His disciples of what He had previously been teaching them, Jesus also instructed them to pray and expect the power of the Spirit as He promised. In addition to hearing and learning, it is imperative that you also pry more about those things. This time, pray with expectation of God’s power and Spirit to empower you to experience those things. There are some new experiences you are going to have that you have been longing for so many years. By faith, the disciples faithfully went to the upper room after Jesus’ instruction and they continue praying, not knowing how or when they would experience what Jesus had promised them. Suddenly, there was a divine empowerment and manifestation of God’s promise to them, Acts 2:1-4. As you revisit the word of God and keep persevering in prayer and in faith this year, you will experience the manifestation of great things in your life.
