Psalm 16:2 (NLT) I said to the Lord, “you are my master! Every good thing I have comes from you.”
James 1:17-18 (LB) But whatever is good and perfect comes to us from God, the creator of all light, and he shines forever without change or shadow. And it was a happy day for him when he gave us our new life through the truth of his word, and we became, as it were, the first children in his new family.
1 Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am…
We belong to a very good and loving Heavenly Father who is responsible for every good thing we are and we have in our lives.
So many people in the world today actually consider themselves wise by refusing to acknowledge God’s existence and His goodness and refusing to submit themselves to Him. And refusal to acknowledge God is one of the Bible’s definition of foolishness, Psalm 14:1. We do not own ourselves, we did not create ourselves and we did not save ourselves. Our lives belong to Him. He is our creator, our Savior and our Lord and Master. It is not by our smartness, nor our beauty, nor our connections, nor any of our efforts or abilities that we are alive and what we are today. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassion fail not. There are new every morning: great is His faithfulness, Lam. 3:22-23. It is because the Lord is good and His mercy endures forever, Psalm 107:1. Imagine how much God loves us and all that God sent Jesus to do all because of us, Heb. 2:6 & 9.
As you acknowledge God and His goodness and grace in your life, it will produce a deep and genuine desire in your heart to continually reverence and worship Him. It will also cause you to continually humble yourself before Him so that He will keep lifting you up, 1 Pet. 5:6. Doing so also causes you to make use of the gifts He has given you in a way that honours and glorifies Him (Your Lord and Master).
