YOU CAN NEVER DO WITHOUT GOD

“And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless, at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.” Luke 5:5-6 KJV

We read this story of Peter a few days ago. Peter and his men have gone fishing throughout the night. They toiled all through the night, and they caught nothing. Peter and his men were not novices. Fishing was their profession. They knew exactly when to fish. They knew the right tools to use for fishing. They had the right kind of skills. Their timing was right. They had everything they needed, yet they toiled all night and caught nothing. It was a very frustrating situation. The enemy ensured that their efforts did not amount to anything. All their efforts were thwarted. Everything they depended upon failed.

Beloved, education, connections, abilities, or natural talents are all good. But outside Christ, many times, all these things will disappoint you. You need the anointing of God. You need His hand upon whatever you are doing. You can never do without God.

Some people always say, “I am a self-made man.” What an arrogant statement! Self-made? There is nothing like that on earth. There is no single individual that is self-made. If you don’t believe me, then give birth to yourself. And then feed yourself when you are born. And clean up all the mess when you are born. There is nothing like a self-made man. Only God is “I am”!

Peter and his team had it all together, naturally speaking, yet they failed. I am wondering when the world will learn that we need God. They toiled all night and caught nothing. But the situation turned around when God’s grace reached out to them. Frustration and defeat end when you encounter the grace of God.

Beloved, you need God in your life every day. You should hunger and thirst for His presence every day. Let your heart pant after Him, “As the deer pants for the water brooks,…” Psalm 42:1 (NKJV).
