STOP BEING SIN CONSCIOUS

“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the Kingdom
of His dear Son; in whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of
sins” Colossians 1:13-14 (KJV)

One of the greatest disasters we suffered because of the fall of man and which, unless it is
dealt with once and for all, will affect whatever we receive from God, is the planting of sin
consciousness in us by the devil. And if we don’t understand the full importance of this, it
will affect how we relate with God. We are more sin-conscious than being conscious of the
good things God has already made available through the blood. When you talk to an average
believer, you can see that they are more sin-conscious.

Brother Mike, what do you mean by sin consciousness? To believe more in the power of sin
to hinder you than what Jesus Christ did on the cross to ultimately deliver you from the
power of sin. You hear some believers say things like the reason I am suffering is because of
my sins. God has remembered the things I did in the past. He has remembered my great-
grandfather’s sin. We get so attached to sin than what Christ did. If the sins you committed or
your great-grandfather committed are still haunting you, then Jesus did a poor job of
redemption. It means there is no point trying because you are already a failure before ever
starting. What we are saying inadvertently is that whatever Jesus did on the cross is not
accurate.

Beloved, there are certain revelations you must have as a believer in Christ. Once the devil
succeeds in planting sin consciousness in you, you can never be bold. You will lose your
confidence and will always be living in condemnation. You will begin to see yourself as a
fake and a hypocrite. And that will ultimately affect you. Sin consciousness is a trick of the
devil because he knows that as long as you keep remembering your mistakes and failures,
you can never resist him.
