“Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.” Proverbs 27:23 (KJV) As a believer, you should pay the price to help others. Yesterday, I challenged you to find someone to disciple. Let me balance it here, the fact that I have called you to the disciple people should not make you take things to an extreme. As much as possible, follow people of the same gender as you. In other words, let men follow men up and women follow women up. This makes it a lot easier for you to be free with the person.
However, this may not always be possible. So, if you have to follow someone up, who is of the opposite gender, deliberately take someone with you to follow the person up. If you want to visit, go in twos. Ensure that your good is not evil spoken of. Even Jesus gave us a perfect example; when He sent out the disciples, He sent them out in twos. If Jesus did it, how much more the Christians of today; God has given us a template, our role is to follow it through. Do not come to church week in and week out, and month in and month out, yet there is no one whose life is being impacted by you. Everything is not money; a kind word, a visit, a text message, a call will go a long way to ensure that everyone builds according to the pattern. Don’t be a reservoir that only receives, be a stream through whom people are refreshed.
There is no one in the Church without a talent. As a leader, beyond following people up to come to church, you should also help them to discover their ministry. If you were well discipled, replicate it in the person you are following up, and if you were not well followed up, ensure that the person you are following up does not feel the same way. Learn from the errors of those around you and ensure that you do not commit the same. Be committed to church growth through evangelism and establish the people through follow up.
