HOW IS YOUR ZEAL FOR GOD’S WORK?

2Samuel 7:1-3 (GNB), John 2:17b (GNB) King David was settled in his palace, and the LORD kept him safe from all his enemies. Then the king said to the prophet Nathan, “Here I am living in a house built of cedar, but God’s Covenant Box is kept in a tent!”Nathan answered, “Do whatever you have in mind, because the LORD is with you.” *…”My devotion to your house, O God, burns in me like a fire.”

God will not send angels to do the work we are supposed to do for Him. God is counting on us to ensure that His kingdom comes and His purpose continues to grow and advance on the earth. David was comfortable in his palace as it were, but he was not still satisfied because the ark of God was not where it was supposed to be. David was not happy that there was no house for the ark of God to be put in. On his own, David began thinking and planning of building God a house. God was so moved by this that God made promises and poured out blessings on David’s generations, (2Sam.7:8-16).

Though God did not allow David build him a house, David still went ahead to provide materials for the building of God’s house. Everything David provided was in abundance and he said, “…the house that is to be builded for the LORD must be
exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries…” (1Chron.22:2-5). David said the house was for God and not man, so he prepared with all his might for it and gave even his personal wealth because of his love for God, (1Chron.29:1-5). David loved to sacrifice in his service to God, (2Sam.24:24).

May God help us to love Him and give our all and make sacrifices in doing His work on the earth.

Prayer Focus:

Tell God how much you love Him and ask Him to use you to advance His work on earth. Pray for the church right now.
