REASON FOR GUARDING YOUR JOY JEALOUSLY (2)

Isaiah 12:2-3, Acts 20:24

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; … Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. *But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

You need joy to be able to lay hold of the things that God has made available for you in Christ. It takes joy to pray, declare and act on God’s word and it takes joy to remain strong and hopeful during the time between when we exercise our faith in God’s word and when there is a manifestation of God’s word in our lives. It is through faith and patience we inherit the promises of God, (Heb.6:12). As Abraham and Sarah kept on rejoicing in God, their faith was strengthened and they were eventually able to give birth to Isaac as God promised them, (Rom.4:20, Heb.11:11).

Just as Paul stated in our second text above, God wants you to finish your assignment on earth with joy. This is why Paul was deliberate about what he allowed to affect or move him. He was deliberate about his focus. Remaining joyful will help you finish strong and finish well.

Knowing how to remain joyful will enable you to remain consistent. No matter what is going on or not going on, like Paul you’ll be able to keep doing what God wants you to do, (Phil.4:12-13). It was the joy set before Him that made Jesus endure the pain and despise the shame of the Cross, (Heb.12:2). Beloved, there is a joy set before you. Don’t give up. Remain joyful and keep keeping on.

Prayer:
Father, please help me to remain joyful so I can lay hold of your promises, remain consistent and also finish well and strong.
