BEING HOPEFUL AND FAITHFUL BY THE MERCY OF GOD (2)

2Corinthians 4:1 (AMPC), Lamentations 3:21-23

…since we do hold and engage in this ministry by the mercy of God [granting us favor, benefits, opportunities, and especially salvation], we do not get discouraged…or become faint with weariness and exhaustion. *This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD’S mercies…we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

God’s mercy is one thing that He uses to show us how faithful He is. His mercies endure forever and they are new every morning. The mercy of God is a major factor that fills us with hope and when we are filled with hope, it is easier for us to remain faithful or to become faithful.

One thing that can help us understand and appreciate the mercy of God upon our lives is His gifts and calling upon our lives. God’s gifts and callings upon our lives are mind-blowing. They are based on His grace and mercy to us. They are not because we qualify or deserve them. My husband Archbishop Benson Idahosa used to say, “God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called.” Gideon was hiding and feeling inferior, but God called him a mighty man of valour and God used him to do great exploits, (Judg.6:11-12). Apostle Paul described himself as the least of all apostles and he said he did not even deserve to be called an apostle because he persecuted the church. The mercy and grace that God showed him by choosing him, filled him with hope and motivated him to even work more than others, (1Cor.15:9-10).

In His mercy, God does not change His mind concerning His gifts and callings upon our lives, (Rom.11:29). Beloved, in His grace and mercy, God has chosen you for great things and God has confidence in you.

Prayer:
I thank you, Dear Father, for the great gifts and callings you have given me by your love and mercy.
