PRAYERS FOR PEACE AND SAFETY IN THE NATION (1)

1Timothy 2:1-2 (LB), Proverbs 21:31

..Pray much for others; plead for God’s mercy upon them; give thanks for all he is going to do for them. Pray…for kings and all …who are in authority over us, or are in places of high responsibility, so that we can live in peace and quietness, spending our time in godly living and thinking much about the Lord. *The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.

God wants us to pray a lot for others, asking for His mercy and also giving thanks for their lives. In the King James Version, the first verse of our text above says, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men.” Instead of being anxious, we need to pray a lot in the authority of Christ, for the lives of everyone in our nation, (Phil.4:6-7).

The second verse shows us that these prayers and thanksgiving must be done especially for those in authority. We also see that one of the effects of praying for others this way is that there will be peace in our land. God also wants us to pray specifically for the peace of our land. Here is what God told the Israelites: “…seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace,” (Jer.29:7).

As a child of God, you are guaranteed peace and safety no matter what is happening around you (Psa.91:7), but God still wants you to desire peace and safety for the lives of those around you. Though there was a great storm at sea, because of Apostle Paul, God saved the lives of all who were on that ship with him, (Acts 27:24, CEV).

Prayer:
Dear Father, I thank you for our leaders and the lives of everyone in our nation. I ask for your peace and safety over our nation.
