SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 8TH, 2024
TOPIC: FROM PRISON TO GLORY
TEXT: GENESIS 42:1-38
CENTRAL TRUTH:
God’s glory will be manifested through the right living in Christ.
MEMORY VERSE:
Hebrews 2:7:
”Thou madest him a little lower than the angels ; thou crowneth him with glory and honor and didst set him over the works of thy hands.”
OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson:
- The saved child will determine to live righteously like Christ, to manifest God’s glory.
- The unsaved child will, by this lesson, turn to Jesus for salvation to be able to manifest God’s glory.
INTRODUCTION:
Every good seed sown on a good soil will someday produce good harvest. The Bible in proverbs 3:35 says that the wise shall inherit glory but shame shall be the promotion of fools. If you were left with a choice to do good or evil, which would you choose?(allow response). God’s glory will be manifested through right living in Christ.
SEQUENCE/PROGESSSION OF EVENTS:
1. Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt and sent his ten children down to buy corn in Egypt (Genesis 42:1-3)
2. Joseph’s brother. Benjamin,did not go for fear mischief May befall him(Genesis 42:4)
3. Joseph was governor over the land and his brethren came and bowed themselves before him with their faces to the ground(Genesis 42:5-6)
4. Joseph recognized his brothers and accused them of being spies(Genesis 42:7-12)
5. The brothers refuted that they were not spies and told Joseph their family lineage that their younger brother was with their father in Canaan (Genesis 42:13).
6. Joseph kept them for three days and then released them to go and fetch their youngest (Genesis 42:14-20)
7. Joseph’s brothers began to feel guilty for their sin against Joseph (Genesis 42:21-23)
8. Joseph bound Simeon in prison,giving others food stuffs to take back home(Genesis 42:24-26).
CLIMAX:
They returned to their father and told him all that had happened and that Benjamin will have to go with them to rescue Simeon (Genesis 42:27-36).
CONCLUSION:
Reuben promised to bring Benjamin back home,but his father refused for fear of losing him (Genesis 42:37-38).
CHALLENGE:
Bad things sometimes happens to good people but with God even bad situations carry purpose that his glory shall abound. Every child of God has this assurance that God will be with us,even through hard times, as he has been with Joseph. The glory of the father will always show up for his children. Remain confident and steadfast in faith.
INVITATION:
The glory of the father is available to all who would come with him in repentance and accept the free gift of life of salvation.(Roman’s 3:23), For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. We all need God’s glory. Cue in today and receive,it is free. Lead the unsaved to Christ.
PRAYER:
Father , I thank you that by the death of Jesus on the cross and by my faith in his death,burial and resurrection you translated me from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of your dear son. By my faith in him I am passed from death to life as I live in a glorious life.

Pray that the lord will raise more intercessors for the Lela people
Pray that discipleship materials be made available
Pray that tools needed for ministry work be provided to effectively spread the gospel among the people.
