*TEXT: HEBREWS 12:1-12*

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.

OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson:

1. The saved child will put his/her hope in God, even whey facing disappointment.

2. The unsaved child will hear God’s word and accept Jesus as Saviour.

INTRODUCTION:

In an athletic race the prize is not for those who enter the race but for those who complete the race. The same is true in the Christian Life. Living for Christ is like running a race.

SEQUENCE/PROGRESSION OF EVENTS:

1. Admonition of the demonstration of enduring Faith (Hebrews 12:1).

2. The ultimate example :Jesus Christ (Hebrews 12:2)

3. Think of all the hostility Jesus endured from sinful people , then you will not become weary and give up (Hebrews 12 3 – 4).

4. Remember the exhortation regarding the discipline of the Lord (Hebrews 12: 5 – 6).

5. Chesting in is a sign of being a son of god (Hebrews 12:7-8).

CLIMAX:

Look to the result of chestening more than the process of chestening (Hebrews 12:11).

CONCLUSION:

Take courage , be strong (Hebrews 12:12).

CHALLENGE:

The phrase “looking unto Jesus,” requires our attention. The word “Looking ” does not just mean look out something. It means to view with undivided attention by looking away from every other object, it means to look away from all else and fix one’s gave upon a particular thing. A runner who wants to win, ignores the other runners and focuses his eyes on the goal. In a contest, we must turn away from every weight and sin and focus our attention on Jesus Christ. Jesus is with us at the starting line, and the finish line, all along the way of the race that He sets before us .

INVITATION:

If you are struggling to keep going in the Christian race ,these verses are for you. Lay aside those things focus your eyes on Jesus. He suffered endured shame, and died to fulfill the Father’s will and provide us forgiveness and internal life. Would you open your heart and let him in today?

PRAYER:

Oh Lord help me to look unto you and make me an example to the unbelievers to see your life in me.
