DON’T GET OFFENDED AT GOD

MATTHEW 11:2-6

…when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? Jesus answered … them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: The blind receive their sight, …the lame walk, …,….,…, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

In the parable of the sower, Jesus said the seeds that fell on the stony ground represent those who receive God’s word with joy, but because the word is not deeply rooted, when tribulations and persecutions arise because of the word, they get offended, (Matt. 13:20-21).

While he was free and baptizing people, John the Baptist knew and declared that Jesus was the Messiah, but when he was put in prison and it seemed like Jesus was not doing anything about his situation, he got offended and his faith in Jesus was affected. All that God wanted John to do was to keep remembering and holding on to what he was told in the light (when things were good and rosy). Jesus’ reply to John was to help John see and remember that He was the Messiah as this was all John needed to stay in faith. If John the Baptist held on to his faith in Christ, he could have experienced a miracle even in that prison.

Never allow what you’re going through to make you doubt God’s love and all He has done for you through Christ. Keep your eyes on the Gospel. What you’re going through is an opportunity for the revelation of Christ to get rooted deeper in you. That tribulation and persecution have arisen because of the word at work in your life. Keep your eyes on Jesus and the love God showed you on the cross. You will not sink.

PRAYER:
FATHER, PLEASE HELP ME TO KEEP MY EYES ON CHRIST AND ON YOUR GREAT LOVE AND PLANS FOR ME, NO MATTER WHAT I MAY BE GOING THROUGH.
GOD BLESS YOU.
