THE REASON DAVID WAS AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART

Psalms 103:1-4 (TPT)

With my whole heart…and …my innermost being, I bow in wonder and love before you,…God! …you are my soul’s celebration. How could I ever forget the miracles of kindness you’ve done for me? You kissed my heart with forgiveness, in spite of all I’ve done. You’ve healed me inside and out from every disease. You’ve rescued me from hell and saved my life. You’ve crowned me with love and mercy.

One reason why David was a man after God’s own heart was because he had a real and deep understanding of the great love that God had for him. Our consciousness of God’s everlasting love and His loving kindness has a way of drawing us towards Him, (Jer.31:3). There is nobody in the Old Testament who wrote about the love, mercy and kindness of God like David did. David acknowledged the wonderful things that God had done for him and he was sincerely grateful for them. David never took the things that God did for him for granted.

David had a very strong revelation of Christ and God’s redemption plan. In scriptures like Psalms 16 and 110, David was speaking about Jesus and His work of redemption. David even spoke about God no longer imputing sin and how God will impute righteousness to men by faith in Christ and not by works, (Rom.4:6-8).

When you have a strong revelation of Christ and the love of God available for you in Christ, you will be a man or woman after God’s own heart. You will be so drawn to God and you will serve God with so much zeal and commitment. The love of Christ will constrain you, (2 Cor.5:14). It will no longer be by people or anything pushing you to serve God passionately.

Prayer:
I thank you, Dear Father, for your great love for me in Christ. Please help me increase in the revelation of your love for me in Christ.
