WHAT IS FUELING YOUR COMMITMENT AND SERVICE UNTO GOD?

John 21:17 (TPT), Genesis 29:20 (CEV)

Then Jesus asked him again, “Peter, son of John, do you have great affection for me?” Peter was saddened by being asked the third time and said, “My Lord, you know everything. You know that I burn with love for you!” Jesus replied, “Then feed my lambs! *Jacob worked seven years for Laban, but the time seemed like only a few days because he loved Rachel so much.

The love of God is the only sure and stable thing that can fuel your commitment and service to God. It is the love of God that fuels your love for Him. We love Him because He first loved us, (1 John 4:19). The reason many believers are struggling to love God is because they are not receiving and filling themselves with the revelation of God’s love for them in Christ. One of the major assignments of the Holy Spirit is to spread the revelation of the love of God in our hearts, (Rom.5:5).

God wants us to be rooted and grounded in His love. God’s love for us is so high, so wide, so deep and so long that we can never fully understand and receive it all. The more we grow in our understanding of the love of God in Christ for us, the more we are filled with the fullness of God, (Eph.3:17-19).

When your heart is filled with the revelation of the love of God, you will not serve God out of duty or compulsion. You will serve Him out of devotion and affection. You will find yourself being committed and making sacrifices for God not because you are forced to but because His great love for you is motivating you to do so. Jacob’s love for Rachel made the sacrifice he was making for her seem like little or nothing to him. Love reduces the pain of sacrifice and commitment.

Prayer:
Father, I want to be rooted and grounded in your love for me in Christ. Fill my heart with the revelation of your great love for me.
