WHY WE REJOICE IN CHALLENGES AND TROUBLES

Romans 5:2a, 3-4 (LB) “…because of our faith, he has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand, … We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us—they help us learn to be patient. And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady”

The major reason why we can rejoice and have a victorious attitude in the midst of challenges and troubles is because as children of God, we can never be disadvantaged. As we keep our faith in Christ and keep yielding to the Spirit, God is divinely making us all He wants us to be. God is at work in us, making us willing and able to do His will. The complete verse of Romans 5:2 (LB) says, “For because of our faith, he has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to actually becoming all that God has had in mind for us to be.”

We do not rejoice that we have weaknesses or troubles; rather, we rejoice that through them, God is working out His strength and nature in us. As we patiently hold on to God and His word for our lives, our character is being developed and our faith and hope in God are being strengthened. This consciousness makes us yield to God more.

“Dear brothers, is your life full of difficulties and temptations? Then be happy, for when the way is rough, your patience has a chance to grow. So let it grow, and don’t try to squirm out of your problems. For when your patience is finally in full bloom, then you will be ready for anything, strong in character, full and complete,” (James 1:2-4, LB).

P R A Y E R:

Father, I thank you that you are at work in me, working out your will in my life. I receive your grace to rejoice and be patient.
