HOW TO KEEP YOURSELF IN THE LOVE OF GOD

1 JOHN 4:15-16 (AMPC) Anyone who confesses (…) that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides (…) in him and he [..] in God. And we know (understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and by experience) and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him.

The first way to keep ourselves in the love of God is by desiring to continue to grow in our understanding of the love of God. The next thing is to be very deliberate about focusing on Christ and the revelation of the love of God (all God has done for us through Christ). Let it dwell in you richly, (Col. 3:16) Fill yourself with it to the point of intoxication. Apostle Paul said, “When I came to you, my friends, to preach God’s secret truth, I did not use big words and great learning. For while I was with you, I made up my mind to forget everything except Jesus Christ and especially his death on the cross,” (1 Cor. 2:1-2, GNB).

In addition to listening to the revelation of Christ and studying it abundantly, we must also pray for God to make us rooted and grounded in His love, for God to help us understand the length, height, width, and depth of God’s love, and for us to know the love of Christ so we can be filled with God’s fullness, (Eph. 3:16-19).

We must also depend on the help of the Holy Spirit. He makes God’s love real to us. “…we are able to hold our heads high no matter what happens and know that all is well, for we know how dearly God loves us, and we feel this warm love everywhere within us because God has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love,” (Rom. 5:5, LB).

PRAYER:
FATHER, PLEASE HELP ME TO KEEP MY EYES, EARS, AND HEART ON THE REVELATION OF CHRIST. REVEAL MORE OF YOUR LOVE TO ME BY YOUR SPIRIT.ABOVE ONLY DAILY DEVOTIONAL
