YOU HAVE GOD’S NATURE OF GOODNESS

GALATIANS 5:22-23a (LB), 2PETER 1:3 (CEV) But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control; *We have everything we need to live a life that pleases God. It was all given to us by God’s power, when we learned that he had invited us to share in his wonderful goodness.

Goodness is the nature of God in you that causes you to passionately exhibit the right values and uphold high moral excellence at all times; no matter the circumstances. God’s nature of goodness is what propels you to treat people justly and fairly, even when they are unjust and unfair to you. It also causes you to highly value and upholds integrity in all dealings and endeavours. It makes you love righteousness and hate iniquity of all kinds, (Heb.1:9). It renders you loving and willing to reveal the goodness and holiness of God in all its ramifications.

God’s nature of goodness makes you maintain a good conscience. You fill your heart with God’s word and use it as your standard of right and wrong. You love things of the light and hate things of darkness. Highlighting God’s impeccable integrity, James 1:17 describes Him as the ‘Father of Lights with whom there is no variableness or shadow of turning.’ The Bible says, “For it is the light that brings a rich harvest of every kind of goodness, righteousness, and truth. Try to learn what pleases the Lord. It has nothing to do with the worthless things that people do, things that belong to the darkness. Instead, bring them out to the light,” (Eph. 5:9-11). “[keep] a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander,” (1 Peter 3:16, NIV).
