PRAY FOR THE BODY OF CHRIST

Ephesians 3:16a, 17-19 (NLT)

I pray that….Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

In John 15:13, Jesus said the greatest love a man can manifest is to lay down his life for his friend. Naturally, it is a bit easier to love and make sacrifices for a friend or someone who is good to you. But God did not lay down His life for his friends. He laid down His life for us and reconciled us to Himself while we were His enemies/sinners, (Col. 1:21, Rom. 5:8). The love of God is beyond what a natural man can reason and understand. It is a spiritual thing that requires spiritual discernment and revelation, (1 Cor. 2:14). This is why Paul prayed for God to grant believers the revelation, understanding, and experience of His love. We need to continually pray this prayer for ourselves and for other believers.

Pray for the enablement to focus on Christ and allow the Spirit to spread God’s love in our hearts, (Rom. 5:5). Pray that we will know and believe the love God has for us, (1John 4:16). Pray that the Holy Spirit will open our eyes to the deep and amazing things God has freely given us in Christ, (1Cor. 2:9-12).

As we make the prayers, more believers will be drawn closer to God, they will yield more to God, love others, pray better, their faith will be strengthened, and they will be whole and more victorious.

Prayer:
Pray in the Spirit right now and ask the Holy Spirit to make other believers rooted in God’s love and grow in understanding it.
