YOU HAVE GOD’S ABILITY TO BE MEEK

Galatians 5:22-23a, Matthew 5:5, Psalms 37:11, Matthew 11:29

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: …*Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. *But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. *Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Meekness is the nature of God that renders us mild and humble. Some versions of the Bible replace the word ‘meekness’ with ‘humility.’ Jesus Himself is our perfect example of meekness and humility. Being meek is about sacrificing your ego and reputation to do what God wants you to do in love and service unto others; just like Jesus did for us. Meekness made Jesus sacrifice all of His glory in Heaven and willingly came down to this earth to be born, to live, to suffer and to die for us; simply because it was God’s will, (Phil.2:3-8). Being meek means choosing to see yourself in a way that allows you to love, serve others and do God’s will, no matter what it might be. It is about choosing not to see yourself more highly than you ought to see yourself, but according to the measure of faith God has given you, (Rom. 12:3).
“Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves,” (Phil. 2:3). There are countless blessings that accompany a posture of meekness and humility. One of them is divine guidance, revelation and direction, (Psa.25:9). Meekness helps you receive and apply God’s Word to your life to transform your soul, (James 1:21). Our third text above says the meek will enjoy an abundance of peace. God resists the proud but gives more grace to the humble, (James 4:6). A meek and quiet spirit is of a great price (value) before God, (1 Pet. 3:4).

Prayer:
Father, I thank you for the ability you have given me to see myself in such a way that I can love, serve others and do your will.
