SEEK THE THINGS THAT MATTER TO CHRIST (1)

Philippians 2:19-22 (NLT)

If the Lord Jesus is willing, I hope to send Timothy to you soon for a visit. … I have no one else like Timothy, who genuinely cares about your welfare. All the others care only for themselves and not for what matters to Jesus Christ. But you know how Timothy has proved himself. Like a son with his father, he has served with me in preaching the Good News.

One of the things that differentiates us from the people of this world is the difference in our passions and pursuits. While the people of this world only seek their pleasure and how their material needs will be met, we seek God’s pleasure and how to continually do His will and bring joy to His heart, (Matt. 6:31-33).

God loves us and He has made abundant provision for all our needs to be met. Along with Christ, He has freely given us all things, (Rom. 8:32). When we ask Him for anything, He gives it to us, but He wants us to know that our lives are much more than just having our needs met. We are here on earth to fulfill His purpose. As members of the Body of Christ, our passion must be to pursue and fulfill the mission of Christ.

The love of Christ must be the major controlling and driving force in our lives right now. Not only did He die for us; we died with Him and now, we no longer live for ourselves but for Him who died for us, (2 Cor. 5:14-15). It is His life we are living now, (Gal. 2:20). Your old life is dead and your real life is hid (has become one) with Christ in God. You have been raised up with Christ and you are seated in Him in Heavenly places, (Eph. 2:6). Right now, your mind should be set on higher things – the things that matter to Christ, (Col. 3:1-4).

Prayer:
Dear Father, please fill my heart with the passion to pursue and fulfil the mission of Christ. May the love of Christ drive me more.
