UNDERSTANDING THE LAW

GALATIANS 3:24-27 (TPT)

The law becomes a gateway to lead us to the Messiah so that we would be saved by faith. But when faith comes the law is no longer in force, since we have already entered into life. You have all become true children of God by the faith of Jesus the Anointed One! It was faith that immersed you into Jesus, the Anointed One, and now you are covered and clothed with his anointing.

In 2 Corinthians 3:6-9, The Ten Commandments is described as the letter that kills, the ministration of death, and the ministration of condemnation. The Law stirs up sin and strengthens sin, (Rom. 7:5, 1Cor. 15:56). It attracts the wrath of God, (Rom. 4:15). “Those who depend on obeying the Law live under a curse. For the scripture says, “Whoever does not always obey everything that is written in the book of the Law is under God’s curse!”” (Gal. 3:10, GNB).

The Law was not meant to justify or save anyone. It was meant to show us our need for Christ and point us to Christ so we can be saved and justified. This is why the central part of the Old Covenant was the offering of animals for the atonement of their sins. Those atoning sacrifices were pointing to Christ.

The Law was a shadow of good things to come, (Heb. 10:1). The coming of Jesus and His sacrifice on the Cross is the coming and fulfilment of those good things. Colossians 2:17 (NLT) says, “For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality.” The Law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Christ, (John 1:17). We are saved by grace through faith in Christ (Eph. 2:8), and not by obeying any Law, (Rom. 4:13, Gal.3:5).

FATHER, I THANK YOU THAT BY MY FAITH IN CHRIST I HAVE RECEIVED THE REALITY OF YOUR WILL FOR MY LIFE. HELP ME TO KEEP MY FAITH IN CHRIST.
