SUBMIT TO GOD’S RIGHTEOUSNESS

Romans 10:1-3 (AMPC)

Brethren, … I long and pray to God that they (Israel) may be saved. …they have a [certain] zeal and enthusiasm for God, but it is not enlightened and according to [correct and vital] knowledge. For being ignorant of the righteousness that God ascribes […] and seeking to establish a righteousness (a means of salvation) of their own, they did not obey or submit themselves to God’s righteousness.

There are two kinds of righteousness: the righteousness of man and the righteousness of God. The righteousness of man is based on man’s effort to please God and earn God’s favour, but the righteousness of God is based on what Christ has done to make us right with God and qualified for God’s goodness and favour.

Human righteousness is like filthy rags to God, (Isa. 64:6). It is very annoying to Him when anyone puts their faith in their righteousness (human efforts) and see it as a basis for receiving anything from Him. By that, we are telling Him that all He sent Jesus to do for us was in vain. God’s promises are not based on the righteousness of the Law, but the righteousness that comes from faith in Christ, (Rom. 4:13).

By what Jesus did for you on the Cross, you have been made the righteousness of God, (2Cor. 5:21). By your faith in Him, you have received God’s nature of righteousness. The righteousness of God is a gift we receive, and by receiving it, we reign in life through Christ (Rom. 5:17). If you do not think you are righteous or qualified to receive something from God because of your works or efforts, you are not submitting to God’s righteousness. Submitting to God’s righteousness is about accepting everything God has made you in Christ, (Phil. 3:9).

I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. God has made me right in His sight and qualified me for His favour
