THE RIGHT WAY TO HANDLE THE FLESH

Romans 8:12-14 (TPT)

So then, beloved ones, the flesh has no claims on us at all, and we have no further obligation to live in obedience to it. For when you live controlled by the flesh, you are about to die. But if the life of the Spirit puts to death the corrupt ways of the flesh, we then taste his abundant life. The mature children of God are those who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit.

The flesh is very deceitful and destructive. There is a way that seems right (to the flesh) but it leads to death, (Prov.14:12). The flesh is not just your physical body per se, but the cravings and desires of the human or sinful nature. It thrives on your senses and the mindsets of the world. The flesh is how the old man (nature) was programmed to operate. Right now, the old sinful man is dead (Rom.6:6). It died with Christ on the Cross. Galatians 5:24 (TPT) says, “Keep in mind that we who belong to Jesus, the Anointed One, have already experienced crucifixion. For everything connected with our self – life was put to death on the cross and crucified with Messiah.”

Now, you must put off the attitude and deeds of the old man (Eph.4:22, Col.3:9). You must subdue the flesh. You are not a debtor to the flesh, you are not a slave to it and you are not to satisfy or please it. Whenever you are satisfying and pleasing the flesh you are dissatisfying and displeasing your spirit and God too. They that are in the flesh cannot please God, (Rom.8:8). Your new man (spirit) is created after God’s likeness in righteousness and true holiness, (Eph.4:24). As you allow your spirit to dominate the flesh, you grow spiritually. The measure of your spiritual maturity is how much you have allowed your spirit to dominate your flesh, (1Cor.3:1-3).

Faith Declaration:
My old nature is dead. I can no longer live and operate like I used to. I follow the Spirit and dominate the flesh.
