DON’T LOSE SIGHT OF THE GRACE OF GOD

Hebrews 12:15-16 (TPT)

Watch over each other to make sure that no one misses the revelation of God’s grace. And make sure no one lives with a root of bitterness sprouting within them which will only cause trouble and poison the hearts of many. Be careful that no one among you lives in immorality, becoming careless about God’s blessings, like Esau who traded away his rights as the firstborn for a simple meal.

It is very dangerous to lose sight or to stop being conscious of the grace of God. One of the dangers of losing sight of God’s grace is that bitterness will take root in our hearts. It will then spring forth from our lives, to trouble us and defile many. The trouble in the lives of many people is because of the bitterness in their hearts. This bitterness arises when we allow ourselves to be more conscious of the negative attitudes of people to us than of the grace and love of God to us. The only way we can overcome the negative attitudes of people towards us is by keeping our minds fixed on the love and goodness of God to us, (Rom. 12:21).

It is when we are not conscious of the grace of God that we yield to the flesh and fall into sin. Ephesians 5:3-4 says instead of engaging in all kinds of evil, we should be giving thanks. What should we be giving thanks for? The mercy and grace of God we have received in Christ. When we keep God’s mercy (the grace and all He has done for us through Christ) in view, we’ll be able to offer our bodies unto God as a living sacrifice, (Rom. 12:1, NIV). This is why we must let the revelation of the grace of God be fresh in our hearts all the time. Focus on the Gospel of Christ. Keep reminding yourself of all God has done for you through Christ. Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus, (2 Tim. 2:1). Let your heart be established in grace, (Heb. 13:9).

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, please fill my heart with the revelation of your grace and help me to remain conscious of your grace always.
