BE FAITHFUL IN EXTENDING GOD’S MERCY TO OTHERS

Colossians 3:12-14 (GNB)

You are the people of God; he loved you and chose you… So then, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any of you has a complaint against someone else. You must forgive one another just as the Lord has forgiven you. And …add love, which binds all things together in perfect unity.

One of the greatest ways to show God that you truly understand and appreciate the love and mercy He is showing you in Christ, is by continuing to extend love and mercy to others; especially to fellow believers. Jesus said whatever we do to the least of His brethren, we are doing to Him, (Matt.25:45). He wants us to love others just as He has loved us, (John 15:12).

In The Passion Translation, our text above says, “You are always and dearly loved by God! So, robe yourself with virtues of God, since you have been divinely chosen to be holy. Be merciful as you endeavor to understand others, and be compassionate, showing kindness toward all. Be gentle and humble, unoffendable in your patience with others. Tolerate the weaknesses of those in the family of faith, forgiving one another in the same way you have been graciously forgiven by Jesus Christ. If you find fault with someone, release this same gift of forgiveness to them. For love is supreme and must flow through each of these virtues. Love becomes the mark of true maturity.”

As you remain conscious of the great love and mercies God is faithfully showing you through Christ, you will be able to continue extending love and mercy unto others.

PRAYERS:

Father, please help me to show mercy unto others today and always.
