STOP BEING AFRAID OF THE DEVIL

Hebrews 2:14-15 (GNB), Luke 10:18 (LB) Since the children…are people of flesh and blood, Jesus himself became like them and shared their human nature. He did this so that through his death he might destroy the Devil, who has the power over death, and in this way set free those who were slaves all their lives because of their fear of death. “Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan falling from heaven as a flash of lightning!

When you truly understand the power of what Jesus accomplished for you by His death, burial and resurrection, you will stop being afraid of the devil or what he can do to you. This fear is what has put so many people in bondage. Light does not fear darkness. As a believer in Christ, the devil no longer has any power over you. All power in heaven and on earth has been given to Jesus (Matt.28:18). As He died on the cross, Jesus destroyed every power the devil had over you (Heb.2:14) and He also disarmed principalities and power (Col.2:15, NIV).

The major power the devil has over anyone now is because of their ignorance and blindness (2 Cor.4:3-6). Their blindness to what Jesus has done. It’s like being threatened by a police officer who has been dismissed from the police force. The only reason you’re allowing him to exercise influence over you is because you are not aware that he has been dismissed and he no longer has a right over you. The way people are turned from the power of Satan unto God is when their eyes are open to what Jesus has done (Acts 26:18). That’s why people need to hear the Gospel! The devil is no longer the head of principalities and powers. Jesus is (Col.2:10). And you share in His authority over them. You are seated together with Christ in Heavenly places (Eph. 2:6) in a spiritual rank that is far above principalities and powers (Eph. 1:20-21).

Prayer:
I thank you, Father, that Jesus has destroyed every power the devil had over me. I am free from every fear of the devil.
