REFLECT GOD’S LOVE AND MERCY TO OTHERS

Colossians 3:12-14 (GNB)

You are the people of God; he loved you and chose you… So then, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any of you has a complaint against someone else. You must forgive one another just as the Lord has forgiven you. And …add love, which binds all things together in perfect unity.

One of the greatest ways to show to God that you really appreciate the love and mercy He has shown to you in Christ, is by reflecting that same love and mercy to others; especially to fellow believers. Jesus said whatever we do to the least of His brethren, we are doing to Him, (Matt.25:45). Love others as Christ has loved you, (John 15:12).

In The Passion Translation, our text above says, “You are always and dearly loved by God! So robe yourself with the virtues of God, since you have been divinely chosen to be holy. Be merciful as you endeavor to understand others, and be compassionate, showing kindness toward all. Be gentle and humble, unoffendable in your patience with others. Tolerate the weaknesses of those in the family of faith, forgiving one another in the same way you have been graciously forgiven by Jesus Christ. If you find fault with someone, release this same gift of forgiveness to them. For love is supreme and must flow through each of these virtues. Love becomes the mark of true maturity.” Beloved, you can do all these because of the life of Christ in you.

God does not want us to love in words only, but in action, (1 John 3:18, GNB). Showing mercy to others is a reflection of the depth of our love and our spiritual maturity. Overcome evil with good, (Rom.12:21).

Action Point:
Pray that God will help you and other believers to manifest His love and mercy as we relate with each other
