FOCUS UNTIL YOU GET AN UNDERSTANDING

MATTHEW 13:3-4, 19 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the wayside, and the fowls came and devoured them up: *When anyone heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the wayside.

One danger of not being focused whenever you have an opportunity to hear or study God’s word, is you will not get understanding. That word will be stolen from you by the enemy, because you permitted him, by your lack of focus. If you do not understand God’s word, it cannot transform you, bear fruit and have the impact it is supposed to have in your life. It’s not just God’s word that gives light; but the entrance of God’s word, (Psa.119:130). Until you understand God’s word you hear, it has not entered you. Instead of being planted, the seed (with all its life and potential) has been stolen and taken away.

Don’t have a wayside (busy and distracted) attitude whenever you are listening to, or studying God’s word. Switch off and disconnect yourself from anything or anyone that you know can distract you. Listen attentively and take notes. Pray and ask God for understanding. Depend on the help of the Spirit. He will guide you into all truth. Go back and patiently listen to the message and study the scriptures for yourself. If after listening or studying, you still don’t understand what God is saying, don’t give up. Continue in it, (John 8:31-32). Ask questions. As God supernaturally sent Philip to the Ethiopian Eunuch to help him gain an understanding of the scriptures (Acts 8:26-40), God is very committed to helping you get understanding of His word.

PRAYER:

FATHER, I THANK YOU FOR THE GRACE TO LISTEN TO YOUR WORD AND FOCUS ON IT UNTIL I GET UNDERSTANDING. HELP ME TO CONTINUE IN YOUR WORD.
