PRAY AND LISTEN

ISAIAH 30:18-21 (NIV)

…the LORD longs to be gracious to you; … he will rise up to show you compassion…Blessed are all who wait for him! … you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you. … your teachers will be hidden no more; …. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

Sometimes, after praying, God will begin to speak to you and lead you to do certain things to prepare and position yourself to receive the answers to your prayers that He has provided for you because of Christ. Therefore, it is important that after praying we deliberately listen to God’s voice and follow His leading. Wait on the Lord like a waiter in a restaurant, waiting for instructions, (Isa.40:31). He is your Shepherd; He wants to lead you. As a believer, you can hear God’s voice, (John 10:27). One of the ways God speaks to you is through His word. The Holy Spirit will begin to bring the revelation of Christ and the wisdom of God to your remembrance, (John 14:26). The Holy Spirit can also begin to guide you and give you specific directions; but they will always be in line with the revelation of Christ, God’s wisdom and God’s will, (Acts 13:2).

Trust wholly in God, and not in your ability, understanding, or connections, (Prov. 3:5-6, Jer. 17:5-8). Don’t be so weighed down or overwhelmed by the situation, that you can’t listen to God as you pray or after you pray, (1 Sam.30). Instead of being anxious, pray with thanksgiving about it. God’s peace will overwhelm you and His Spirit will start guiding and leading you, (Phil.4:6-7). Learn how to be meek, quiet and still before God, (1Pet. 3:4b, Psa.25:9).

DEAR FATHER, MY EARS AND HEART ARE OPEN TO YOU. I AM WILLING TO FOLLOW YOUR LEADING AS REGARDS ALL I PRAY AND ASK YOU FOR.
