DON’T LOSE YOUR IDENTITY (2)
Matthew 16:13-16
When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
God does not describe you or identify with you based on your past, your mistakes, or your weaknesses. He describes and identifies with you based on who He has made you in Christ. Do you know all God has made you in Christ? Have you accepted them as your true identity? When the prodigal son was returning home, he planned to say, “Father, I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your servants.” But when the father saw him, the father said, “This my son was dead, but now he is alive. He was lost, but now he is found,” (Luke 15:18-19, 24). By your faith in Christ, you are a son of God now, and that’s what He always calls you, (1 John 3:1-2).
God started calling Abraham a father of many nations even before he had Isaac, (Gen.17:4-5). God called him this way because God had made him this way. The reason God calls things that are not as though they were, is because He has made them so (Rom. 4:17). As you agree with God and call yourself what He calls you, you will experience and become what God has made you. If you believe it, you will become it. No matter what men, or situations of life call you, keep calling yourself what God calls you. You are born of God, (1 John 5:4). Greater is He that is in you (1 John 4:4). God’s testimony of you is that the same life that’s in Christ is in you (1 John 5:10-11). That means everything Christ is, you are.
Action Point:
Declare the things you know God has made you in Christ. Declare what you have, who you are and what you can do.
