DECLARE GOD’S TRUTH IN LOVE

Ephesians 4:15 (KJV, GNB, TPT)

…speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ …by speaking the truth in a spirit of love, we must grow up in every way to Christ, who is the head. *But instead we will remain strong and always sincere in our love as we express the truth. All our direction and ministries will flow from Christ and lead us deeper into him, the anointed Head of his body, the church.

Whatever we do for God that is not motivated by the love of God, is nothing in the sight of God, (1Cor.13:1-3). It is very important that we are willing to preach the Gospel and declare God’s truth, but this is not enough. What really is our motive for doing this? Without the right motive, our works will not be rewarded by God, and we may not be able to endure and remain consistent during difficult and trying times. This is why before Jesus told Peter to feed His sheep, Jesus asked Peter three times if Peter loves Him, (John 21:15-17).

In 1Corinthians 8:1b, Paul said “…Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.” The Good News Bible says “…Such knowledge, however, puffs a person up with pride; but love builds up.” Are you preaching or doing what you’re doing, to prove that you know, or you can preach? Or to show off or earn a certain reputation for yourself? Or are your preaching out of love, to edify and bless the lives of others and to glorify Christ?

When love is our motive, the grace of Christ will flow through us and we’ll be able to truly build one another up in love and into the fullness of Christ, as God desires, (Eph. 4:16). “So then, we must always aim at those things that bring peace and that help strengthen one another,” (Rom. 14:19, GNB).

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, please help me and other believers and ministers to continue declaring your truth in the love of Christ.
