WHAT SOUND ARE YOU HEARING?

1Kings 18:1, 41-42

And it came to pass …, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth. *And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. *So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees

When Elijah told King Ahab that he heard the sound of an abundance of rain, he was not talking about a physical sound and he was not simply making a positive confession. The reason Elijah made this statement, was because God had told Elijah that He was going to send rain. Elijah had a positive attitude towards God’s word. God’s word was more real to him than everything else. He held on to God’s word because he knew that God was not a man that He should lie. Numbers 23:19 (GNB) says “God is not like people, who lie; He is not a human who changes his mind. Whatever he promises, he does; He speaks, and it is done.”

As Elijah held on more and more to God’s word, God’s word became more real to him. Even before the rain fell physically, in the spirit, Elijah was hearing the rain falling. If this could happen to Elijah, what do you think your experience should be? Do you know that because of Christ, God has already fulfilled all His promises to you? (2Co.1:20) Along with Christ, God has freely given you all things, (Rom.8:32).
At every given point in time, your life is meant to be filled with hope – an assurance of a divine expectation based on God’s promises and word. What revelation of Christ/ the promises of God are you holding onto right now? Can you hear the sound of their coming manifestation?

Action Point:
Thank God for His promises and the things He has done for you in Christ. Declare them and see them manifest in your life.
