DON’T GIVE ROOM TO THE DEVIL

Ephesians 4:26-27 (KJV, TPT), James 1:19 (GNB)

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. *But don’t let the passion of your emotions lead you to sin! Don’t let anger control you or be fuel for revenge, not for even a day. Don’t give the slanderous accuser, the Devil, an opportunity to manipulate you! …Everyone must be quick to listen, but slow to speak and slow to become angry.

Today, we shall consider two major ways we can close the door against the devil, and prevent him from deceiving or manipulating us out of God’s will for our lives.

One – Don’t let him get into your mind. Don’t believe the lies the devil is telling you about what you are going through. Don’t let him challenge God’s word in your mind, and make you start doubting or compromising your faith. Exercise authority over your mind. Fill your mind with the revelation of Christ, and renew your mind by speaking God’s truth to yourself until it takes over your mind. Cast down every imagination and high thing that wants to exalt itself against the knowledge of Christ. Use your words to take that thought captive and align it with Christ, (2 Cor.10:4-5).

Two – Keep walking in love. When Paul said we are not ignorant of the devil’s devices, he was asking the believers in the Corinthian church to forgive and comfort the brother who was being disciplined, (2 Cor.2:5-11). The devil can exploit us when we are not walking in love. Be slow to get angry and be slow to speak anything negative about your life, situation or anyone. Instead, be quick to hear what God is saying, then say it, (James 1:19, Heb. 13:5-6).

Prayer:
Father, I thank you for the grace you have given me to keep the devil out of my mind and to keep walking in love.
