DON’T HAVE A PRISON MENTALITY

Matthew 11:1-4

And it came to pass when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities. Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:

Don’t allow the circumstances you’re going through to limit your faith and mentality. Don’t let it cage you and force you into its mold. Don’t let it change your vision, thoughts, confession, and the way you behave. Keep your focus on Christ and all He has done for you.

When Paul and Silas were in prison after being falsely accused, stripped, beaten and chained in their hands and feet, they refused to have a prison mentality. This is why at midnight, they could pray and sing the way they did, and other prisoners heard them. Their focus was on Christ. Eventually, there was an earthquake that led to their release and that of the other prisoners, and through them, the warder and his family received Christ and were saved, (Acts 16:25-32). At other times when Paul was in prison, instead of having a prison mentality, he turned his prison to a platform. He was preaching the Gospel to soldiers and fellow prisoners (Phil.1:12-13) and from prison, he wrote two-thirds of the New Testament. Though he was in prison, he was telling those who were free, to rejoice in the Lord (Phil.4:4). Though Joseph was in prison, he was still diligent and productive. Beyond doing his work well and increasing in influence, he was caring for other prisoners and interpreting their dreams, (Gen. 39:21-23, Gen. 40:6-22). He was manifesting the supernatural.

Prayer:
Father, I thank you for the grace you have given me in Christ, to never allow what I am going through to limit my faith and mentality.
