FILL YOURSELF WITH THE REVELATION OF GOD’S LOVE

Colossians 3:16 (GNB), Ephesians 3:17b-18 (GNB)

Christ’s message in all its richness must live in your hearts. Teach and instruct one another with all wisdom. Sing psalms, hymns, and sacred songs; sing to God with thanksgiving in your hearts. *…. I pray that you may have your roots and foundation in love, so that you, together with all God’s people, may have the power to understand how broad and long, how high and deep, is Christ’s love.

The only way the love of God will be able to overwhelm and control us is as we become more deliberate about filling our hearts with the revelation of God’s love for us. The love of God needs to become so real and tangible to you. You need to know and personally believe the love God has for you, (1John 4:16). This is why we must be very deliberate about focusing on the Gospel of Christ. It is the revelation of God’s grace for us in Christ that builds us up and gives our inheritance in God, (Acts 20:32). It is not the Law.

God wants your heart to be rooted in His love and He wants your heart to be filled with the revelation of the various dimensions of His love for you. It is the love of God that fills us with His fullness, (Eph. 3:17-19). The more you are filled with the love of God, the more you will reflect this love (God’s nature) to others. You will find yourself laying down your life for others, (1John 3:16). As the revelation of the love of God fills your heart, you would not be able to keep God’s love to yourself. You will desire to preach the Gospel to others, you will show care and concern, and you will be merciful and forgiving to others. We need the help of the Holy Spirit. As we study the Gospel, He pours out and spreads the love of God in our hearts, and the more we receive this love, the more our lives are filled with hope, (Rom. 5:5).
Prayer:
Father, help me to be more deliberate about filling myself with the revelation of your love. Let your love be more real to me.
