Judges 6:14-15 (GNB) … the Lord ordered him, “Go with all your great strength and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I myself am sending you,” Gideon replied, “… Lord, how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least important member of my family.”

2 Corinthians 3:5 There is nothing in us that allows us to claim that we are capable of doing this work. The capacity we have comes form God.

As Gideon was about to carry out the first assignment God gave him, he took ten of his servants along to accomplish it, Judges 6:27. This is the same person that confessed that his family was poor and that he was the least in his father’s house. How then could he still have had so many servants? It is very likely that Gideon’s anxiety, fear and frustration was causing him to under value what he had available to him. He began giving excuses for why he could not embark upon the exploits that God was commissioning him to do. Moses also gave excuses when God met him by the burning bush. This displeased God because God expected Moses to know that He is the Almighty God; a God who could create in him what was lacking or touch him in any area where he may have been feeling incompetent, Exo. 4:10-16.

Before God chose you to embark upon exploits, He knew what you had and didn’t have and He knew what you are or are not capable of. He is God. So do not allow anything to cause you to feel that you are unable or disqualified to do the exploits that God has said you will do. Instead of disqualifying yourself and finding excuses for why you can’t do exploits, trust God today and ask Him to empower you to do the exploits that He has earmarked for you. God’s abundance and sufficiency is available to you, 2 Cor. 9:8. We can never be fully capable on our own for what God has called us to do. It is God’s sufficiency that makes us complete and capable, 2 Cor. 3:5. Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world, 1 John 4:4. We can do all things through Christ’s strength in us, Phil. 4:13.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, You are the one that makes me complete and capable so I accept that I am able to do ALL You want me to do.

Bible in one year reading plan: 2 Kings 24-25, John 5:1-24.
