THE CONTINUOUS FLOW OF THE ANOINTING OF GOD

Texts: Psalms 23:1, 5 (NKJV), 1 John 2:27

Key Verse: Psalms 23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.

Introduction: In Psalms 23, David paints a vivid picture of God’s ongoing provision and anointing in the life of a believer. This study explores the concept of the continuous flow of God’s anointing, highlighting its significance and impact on our lives.

Study:

  1. Ongoing Experience with God:
  • Psalms 23:1 portrays God as the Shepherd who continuously provides for His people, ensuring they lack nothing.
  • David’s declaration of God anointing his head with oil signifies a continuous outpouring of God’s favour, protection, and empowerment.
  1. The Ever-flowing Anointing:
  • The anointing of God upon our lives is not temporary but continuous (Psalms 23:5).
  • Just as David’s cup runs over with the blessings of God, the anointing upon us keeps flowing and overflowing, never ceasing or diminishing.
  1. Power of the Holy Spirit:
  • 1 John 2:27 emphasizes the abiding presence of the anointing within believers, teaching them all things and guiding them in truth.
  • The anointing of God operates through the power of the Holy Spirit, enabling believers to manifest the power and presence of God in their lives.
  1. Living in Faith and Manifesting Power:
  • The anointing of God does not depend on our feelings but on our faith in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:21).
  • Like Jesus, we can arise and manifest the power of God regardless of our circumstances or feelings (Mark 4:39).

Conclusion: The continuous flow of the anointing of God in our lives is a reality for every believer. As we trust in God’s provision and rely on the power of the Holy Spirit, His anointing will continually flow and overflow from us, manifesting His presence and power in our lives. Let us embrace this truth and live with the assurance that God’s anointing is always available to empower us in every situation we face.
