LESSON 29

TOPIC: FRUITFULNESS

TEXT: Genesis 26:12-33

CENTRAL TRUTH:
God desires that you should be fruitful.

MEMORY VERSE:
Genesis 17:6:
’’And I will make thee exceedingly fruitful and I will make nations of thee and kings shall come out of thee.”

OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson:

  1. The saved child will recognize that his fruitfulness is of God.
  2. The unsaved child will discover that it is God who commands fruitfulness and will repent and come to Jesus for salvation to be fruitful.

INTRODUCTION:
Have you ever seen a man that grew so great that everybody envied him including the king? What could be this man’s secret of fruitfulness? Listen to this lesson so as to learn the secret of fruitfulness.

SEQUENCE/PROGRESSION OF EVENTS:

  1. Isaac sowed in the land in the time of famine and the Lord blessed him (Genesis 26:12).
  2. He became very great and had passions, flocks, herds and servants and he was envied (Genesis 26:13-14).
  3. The Philistines stopped his wells and the king sent him out of the land, saying that he had become mightier than them (Genesis 26: 15-16).
    1. Isaac departed and came to Gerar, and his servants digged more wells in the valley and found spring water (Genesis 26:17-18).
    2. The herdsmen of Gera strove with Isaac over the well and he left and dug again until they strove no more with him (Genesis 26:22a).
    3. He called the place where they they strove no more with him Rehoboth, for he said, “ the lord hath made room for us and we shall be fruitful in the land” (Genesis 26:22b-23).
    4. The lord appeared unto him at Beersheba and said I will bless thee and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake ( Genesis 26:24-25).
    5. Abimelech the king and his friends and the captain of his army came back to Isaac and pleaded for friendship for he said , we have seen that certainty the lord is with thee and thou at so blessed of the lord (Genesis 26:26-29).
    6. They made peace with Isaac and they became friends and departed in peace ( Genesis 26:30-31).

CLIMAX:
After this, Isaac received a good news from his servants that they have found water and they had called the name of the place Sheba, which till this day is called Beersheba (Genesis 26:32-33).

CONCLUSION:
God delights in your fruitfulness. Isaac became fruitful because he choose to listen to the voice of God. You too can become fruitful if only you choose to abide in Christ and follow all his instructions

CHALLENGE:
There is nothing that we have that was not given to us by God. He gave us his only begotten son, Jesus. He has also freely given us all things because of his love for us. You must remain in him and be happy here on earth, even unto eternity.(John 15:5). I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, bear much fruit, for without me you can do nothing.

INVITATION:
God loves everyone including sinners. Do not stay outside this great salvation plan of God and suffer here on earth, and also an eternal domination in hell fire (Rom 6:23). The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our lord. Growth and fruitfulness is part of the benefits of salvation. Repent now and come to Jesus. He is coming soon.

CONFESSION:
I am fruitful, because I am connected to Christ, who is the vine. No one can stop my greatness because I bear the mark of Christ.

The Kuce speaking people of Nigeria live on rugged land in the Plateau State.
Those who do not identify themselves as Christians practice traditional religion, idol worship and fetishism.
Missionaries brought Christianity to the Bace (pronounced Bache) people of Nigeria nearly 100 years ago. And now, the majority identify themselves as Christians. However, they still do not have God’s Word in Kuce, (Kuche) language. Many believers still live in fear of spirits.
A desire for the literacy and education has created great interest, not only among the churches, but also among the people at large. Church and community leaders alike are anxious to see the first phrase of a New Testament translation- Luke, Acts and James have been completed. There is hope that this will ultimately lead to a complete Kuce New Testament.

MY PART AS A MISSIONARY HELPER:
Thank you Lord for sending missionaries to Rukuba people. Thank you for making many of them Christians. Lord, I pray that the yoke of idolatry among the Rukuba people be destroyed. I also ask Lord God that you send your servants there to witness Christ to the people. Lord, please give grace for the Bible to be translated in Kuce (Kuche), the heart language of the Rukuba people so that they can know God.
