Daily Devotional: 20th May “MISTAKES”

READ: 2 Samuel 11:1-15
“For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.” – James 3:2

The first error we make in our lives is usually the initial mistake that leads to all the other mistakes we end up making. We must look out for this first error because it has a way of opening the door for a series of errors. The first mistake of the Pharisees was to become religious and selfrighteous. “Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved” (Luke 8:12).

Their second mistake was to reject the ministry of grace and truth that came through Christ. “He came unto his own, and his own received him not” ( John 1:11).

Their third mistake was to become jealous of the Lord Jesus. “For he knew that for envy they had delivered him” (Matthew 27:18).

Their fourth mistake was to murder Christ. “And they crucified Him, and parted His garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They
parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots” (Matthew 27:35). Their fifth mistake was to disbelieve His resurrection. “And when they were assembled with the elders…they gave large money unto the soldiers, Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept” ( Matthew 28:12-13).

As you can see, the first error opened the door to a series of more serious errors. Mercy!
