“Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.” Luke 5:4 (KJV) Many people have a wrong idea of accepting Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour and the person to go to them with the real message is you. Some people out there admire the believers but would not join because they think becoming a Born-Again Christian is living a life below their level. Some people even think that when they become Christians, God takes everything that gives them joy from them and that they are condemned to a boring life, but nothing is farther from the truth.
When you give your life to Christ, what you have simply done is to enter into a partnership with Jesus. When Jesus came, He walked on earth as a man, paid the supreme price and handed over the baton to you and He expects a partnership. God is not a taker. He is the ultimate Giver. When He gave Jesus, He gave His best but when He gave the Holy Spirit, He gave His all. The people that amuse me most are those in the Church who steer clear of any position of service. Stop and think! If everyone takes that position, will there be service? Just think: assuming you get to church on a Sunday morning and the choir have decided not to sing, the media team has decided to shut down their systems, the engineering department refuses to power on the microphones, the ushers, greeters and all service groups refuse to work, will the Pastor be able to preach? The answer is an obvious NO! So, the atmosphere you enjoy when you go to church was created by some people; what value are you adding?
In our scripture above, Peter had lent Jesus his boat. When Jesus finished ministering, did He just walk away? No! He spoke the Word and that led to a massive harvest. I don’t know what the boat is to you, but whatever it is, let the Master use it and your life will never remain the same again.
