TOPIC: We Are His Property (DCLM Daily Manna 14 May 2021)

TEXT: Romans 14:1-9

1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

4 Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.

9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

KEY VERSE: “For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.” – (Romans 14:8,9)

MESSAGE:

Writing to the Romans, Paul the Apostle was pointing out several wonderful spiritual truths about the faith we have in Jesus Christ. He highlighted the need to help believers who may appear weak in their faith or convictions. Instead of bullying others, stronger believers should use their God-given grace to uplift frail brethren. Our differences should not create disparities and segregations, or a superior and inferior complexes. Rather, we should compassionately and considerately assist one another till the end.

To buttress and summarise his argument, the apostle inspiringly also revealed the divine ownership of real believers by God whether dead or alive. Whilst we are alive, we belong to God and He is interested in whatever happens to us. He cares for us. And at death, He remains our Lord. He will not deny or neglect us.

A cursory look at the story of poor Lazarus in the Bible may suggest neglect by friends and family as he was abandoned at the rich man’s gate. But God never forgot or forsook him. At death, his corpse was carried by God’s angels into Abraham’s bosom. This shows there is proper documentation in the Father’s Kingdom.

The moment a sinner is saved, his or her name is written in the Book of Life, signifying ownership by God. He never rejects or neglects those who believe in Him. Everything between life and death is certainly at His Son’s expense especially if we abide in Him till the end.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
God owns every child of His, dead or alive.

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
2 Corinthians 1-4
