TOPIC: Eyes On You, Fear Not (DCLM Daily Manna 21 November 2021)

TEXT: Luke 12:1-12

1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

2 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.

3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?

7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

9 But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.

11 And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:

12 For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.

KEY VERSE: “But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” – (Luke 12:7)

MESSAGE:

A godly but invalid woman who was bedridden in the city of Elmira, New York, was asked if she sometimes got discouraged. She answered, “How can I be discouraged when my heavenly Father watches over each little sparrow and I know He loves and cares for me”. This response gave rise to one of the favourite songs we sing today – “His Eye is on the Sparrow.”

Jesus, in our text, taught on sundry lessons as His disciples and the multitude gathered unto Him. He warned the disciples of the hypocrisy of the Pharisees. He told them that there is nothing hidden that would not be revealed. Therefore, whatever they say in secret will be made open. They are to fear Him who can both kill and cast into hell; that is, the almighty God. He consoled them that they are of more value than the sparrows and even the hairs on their head were numbered.

Jesus cares for His own and values every believer. There is victory for those who have faith in the Son of God. There is no more fear of death for the believer because Jesus has destroyed him that had the power over death. He will inject sufficient grace, power and spirit into your life to overcome. Unfortunately, some people allow life predicaments to weaken them. They go away from the truth and fellowship of God’s children when the thoughts of such situation flush through their mind. Some complain and murmur.

Trials, tests and temptations may come but can all be overcome through the grace of God. Fear not; trials and temptations are meant to take you to your right position as a child of God. Whatever He has not ordained will not happen to you. You must resist the devil and watch him flee from you. Don’t ever fear; don’t ever give up. Christ’s eyes are on you.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
God watches over the righteous.

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Ezekiel 36-38
