TOPIC: Expectation Begets Realisation (DCLM Daily Manna 24 March 2021)
TEXT: Luke 5:12-16 (KJV)
12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
14 And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
15 But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.
KEY VERSE: “And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him” (Luke 5:13).
MESSAGE:
Doing the supernatural is the speciality of the Lord Jesus. He heals, delivers, saves, provides, protects, repairs broken lives, restores lost glory, removes reproaches, grants breakthrough in life, lifts people up to higher ground, etc. Christ Jesus has the power to fulfil all and much more (Ephesians 3:20).

The leper in our text had an encounter with the Lord Jesus. He would not let this unique opportunity pass him by. Though he did not know how to organise his words in eloquent prayer, his heart was full of great expectation and strong faith to receive. He “fell on his face” in unreserved worship, total surrender and humility in recognition of the authority of Jesus. He asked, not on any merit but wholly on the compassion and will of the Lord. Apparently, he did not doubt the ability of Christ. He knew that without His will, he could not receive his desire. He was undaunted.
His expectation was great and his faith was unwavering. It is instructive to note that after receiving this great miracle of cleansing, Jesus still told him to be subject to the revealed Scriptures of that time and report for a confirmation of the miracle before the priests. Through the enthusiasm with which he spoke about the Healer, “…great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him…
Every believer should recognise the day of his opportunity – a simple crusade, revival service, prayer meeting, Bible Study, Sunday Service, an encounter with a man of God, a phrase in the daily Scripture reading and any means that God chooses. Faith is very essential and indeed the key to unlock the storehouse of God’s miracles for our lives. There is nothing God cannot do if we, like the leper, can confess, “thou canst…”!
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Your miracle is in your mouth.
