TOPIC: Persevere! (DCLM Daily Manna 27 August 2021)

TEXT: Mark 10:46-52

42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.

43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:

44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.

45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

KEY VERSE: “And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.” – (Mark 10:48)

MESSAGE:

Kenneth E. Hagin was a man who saw a lot of miracles in his life and ministry. He was healed of three medically incurable diseases before the age of 18. He was a man favoured by many revelations in visions in which the Lord Jesus Christ Himself spoke directly to him. In one of those encounters, the Lord reportedly told him – “I weep for my children because they suffer unnecessarily. They pray, they cry, but if the answer is delayed, they give up. They ought not to give up since the answer will definitely come. O, how I long to help them, but I cannot break my Word”.

Blind Bartimaeus sat begging by the roadside when Jesus was passing by. It was a lifetime opportunity for him to receive his sight from the Lord. So he cried out with all his strength. But surprisingly, many charged him to keep quiet, “but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me” (verse 48). His cry and desperation attracted the attention of Christ who called him and healed him.

Perseverance is the key to success. Blind Bartimaeus would have lost the privilege of receiving his sight, if he had not persevered. The Syrophenician woman would not have received the deliverance of her daughter from demonic oppressions if she had not persevered. (Matthew 15:22-28). The woman with the issue of blood in spite of her physical weakness meandered through the crowd to touch the helm of Jesus’ garment and was healed.

The Lord Jesus instructs believers to pray without ceasing or fainting. What are you asking from God? What are the desires of your heart? Take them to God in prayer, hold on to His promises affirmatively until the answer comes. Jabez turned his situation around, you can turn yours as well. Never give up. Persevere!

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Only those who persevere achieve their goals.
