TOPIC: He Is Risen! (DCLM Daily Manna 4 April 2021)
TEXT: John 20:1-10
1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.
3 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre.
4 So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.
5 And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.
6 Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie,
7 And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.
8 Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.
9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
10 Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.
KEY VERSE: “For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.” – (John 20:9)
MESSAGE:
Faith is trusting God even when you do not understand His plan. During the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ, He never minced words about His mission on earth coupled with the reality about His betrayal, death, burial, resurrection and ascension.

Mary Magdalene, one of the followers of the Saviour whom He had set free from sin and delivered from demonic powers, driven by passion and gratitude, on one of her visits to the tomb to anoint His body, discovered that the stone covering the entrance had been rolled away and the body of Jesus Christ seemingly missing. Not able to comprehend what actually happened, she went to report her findings to Peter and John who also came, saw but went back home not able to really figure out what must have happened. But Mary, for her piety and passion to see her Redeemer, decided to remain there. This act of devotion and commitment eventually gifted her with the glorious privilege of being the first to see the physically risen Lord.
Hers was a heart full of grace, gratitude, extraordinary courage and steadfastness that made her defy all odds in her quest to unravel the mystery of her resurrected Lord. The slowness of the disciples to easily remember and believe the story of His resurrection made Christ to upbraid them at a later meeting. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is very significant to our faith and it gives us hope of a blissful eternity.
The Master still calls us today to a life of wholehearted devotion, piety and commitment to Him and His cause. The resurrection of Jesus Christ signifies victory over satanic machination and powers. As we trust Him today and lay hold on His promises, He will make us experience our own resurrection on the last day.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
The Christian’s hope of heaven is rooted in Christ’s resurrection.
